WHY I BECAME A FRANCHISE CONSULTANT AND WHY YOU SHOULD START NOW!

My husband and I sold our home health business in 2012. It was wonderful and awesome and we were on top of the world. However, after a few months of being footloose and fancy free, I was bored.

I needed to have something to sink my teeth into again. I knew I wanted to start another business but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. So, I looked at some businesses for sale and I took a peek at a few franchise opportunities.

But, nothing really grabbed me and I was getting frustrated. I wasn’t sure how I was going to find that one franchise or business that was the right fit. So, I had to do some soul searching.

Finding the right fit

Because I value freedom and flexibility, I knew that I wanted to work from home or from wherever I wish. I also knew that I wanted to set my own schedule so that we could travel to see our parents, children and grandchildren whenever we wanted to do so.

And, like everyone, I wanted the opportunity to make six figures. So, after giving this much thought I realized that there we three things that I was looking for in a business opportunity.

Because I love doing research and learning new things, I was enjoying looking at many different franchise opportunities. But, I was struggling to find a business model that fit my parameters.

So, I took out a piece of paper and wrote down the following questions and then wrote my answers beside them. I then went through and highlighted key words in my answers.

What do I do well? Help people solve problems by identifying their needs and developing solutions.

What do I like to do in my free time? Travel. Spend time with family. Talk about ideas for business. Make plans. Make lists.

What is most important to me in regards to a career or business? Being able to do my own thing, make money and invest in our future.

AHA moment!!! It hit me like a ton of bricks. I can help people find the right franchise or business opportunity, work from home, do my own thing AND make a lucrative income which will allow me to invest in not only my future, but the future of my children and grandchildren.

So, I went about learning how to become a consultant. After looking at a few organizations and affiliations I made the decision and here I am!

It has been 7 years since I made that decision and I wish I had done it much sooner.

my first placement was $23,500

I will never forget my first placement. My client was a middle-aged fella who had worked in B2B sales for many years and wanted to own his own business. Long story short, he ended up purchasing a commercial cleaning franchise. He was so happy and excited about his new future and all of the possibilities. It was such an awesome thing to go through this process with him. I knew I was going to love being a franchise consultant. Shortly after he signed his agreement, I was paid my placement fee. I woke up one morning and checked the bank and HOLY COW…there was a deposit in my account for $23,500.

Yes. $23,500. It was awesome. That feeling never gets old and I am so appreciative every time I get to help a client while doing something that I truly love. That being said, there are ups and downs as a franchise consultant. Not every client ends up purchasing a franchise. Maybe they change their mind.

Maybe the funding fell through. But, I can tell you this. Like anything, if you work hard, put in the effort and really want to help others, you too will be successful as a franchise consultant.
